Friday 23rd, September - World's Flavors

World’s Flavors

A great opportunity to meet, understand and discourse  through the flavors of different cuisines at Moni Lazariston Festival, Friday, 23rd September, 2016, 19:00-23:00.

Arsis collaborates with Moni Lazariston Festival  and organize the "World’s Flavors ", an introduction to the flavors of Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq and other countries of Asia, aiming to promote national traditions and gastronomic culture with free admission for all.

Refugees will cook meals of their own country and will present them to the audience, in a process of integration beyond stereotypes in a multicultural festival.

Of course for such a celebration, besides the tasting, there is musical and artistic program, and special workshops and creative activities for children.

Multilingual workshops, organized by Arsis-Social Support of Youth will take place. Also will be at  the Mobile School which is created for the needs of children living and working on the road and do not have access to the school environment.

Apart from the many musical and cultural surprises prepared by the participants themselves, visitors will have the opportunity, if they come a little earlier than the beginning of the open kitchen, at 18:30, to see the puppet show “The Gift” of the National Theatre of Northern Greece.

It is a modern form of puppet theater, in which the objects come alive through the symbolic and utilitarian nature, substituting the traditional dolls. The puppeteer is visible to the public, while not simply operator of the doll, but involved himself actively in the action. The text is the result of creation of the whole group and follows through rehearsals.

At 20:00, Dromocósmicas take action with Muamba show, where Lord Byron, a charlatan artist and his clumsy assistant Signiorina combine reality and imagination.

At 22:00, the musical finale of the evening takes the Syrian, but for decades citizen of Thessaloniki, Ziad Rajab, with a program that carries all the perfumes and the Eastern Mediterranean notes.

The "World’s Flavors" will fill Moni Lazariston Festival with the tastes and smells of Basbousa, Kanafeh, Tabbouleh, Kubbah and so many others. But above all, it will be filled with the mood of people who wish to meet each other…
